    • Always save your .indd file first (keep it for your project archives)
    • File > Adobe PDF Presets > High Quality Print (Dialog box opens)
      • Choose Destination (where to save file)
      • Save (Dialog box opens)
    • Adobe PDF Preset > High Quality Print (Confirm)
      • General > Pages
        • Indicate All or Range of pages (if necessary)
        • Indicate Pages or Spreads (if necessary)
      • General > Options
        • Select: All options
        • Export Layers: Visible & Printable
      • General > Include
        • Deselect: All options
        • Interactive Elements: Do Not Include
      • Compression
        • Set first, and third, text entry fields to: 150 ppi
      • Marks and Bleeds
        • Marks > Select: All Printer’s Marks
        • Bleed and Slug > Select: Use Document Bleed Settings
      • Export PDF (file should self-open for final proofing)
    • Close .indd file and Don’t Save (changes)

Perform Business Website & Class Server Hygiene:

  1. Remove all HTML textbook assignment links from your assignments web page
  2. Do NOT remove the HTML final/end-of-week projects from your assignments web page
  3. Remove all of the HTML textbook assignments/data files from the class web server

How to submit your assignments from this point forward:

Submit the  business website you created in HTML project #3. It will have following items (at the least):

  1. Home Page – Welcome Visitors to your website
  2. Contact page – Contact Information (email, phone, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, etc.)
  3. Portfolio page – Create an image or link to your assignment web page.  From this point until the end of this program you will use your business website to submit all future assignments.  List any work you have done in class or outside of your classwork here  Add a link or an image to your assignment web page on your portfolio page
  4. Services page – Information pertaining to the types of services you offer
  5. Your website should fill the entire computer screen and have images and navigation.  This should be quality work.

Project Assignments

Your grade on the following three project assignments will be based on your first submission.  Your customer would expect you to get it correct the first time.

 

Project #1 :: Logo for your Business

Read through these articles on logo design principles.

Create two versions of a vector logo in Illustrator for your Web Design Business:

  1. Black & White
  2. Color

Start with the black and white logo. Keep it simple and legible in B&W and at all different sizes, from a favicon up to a billboard.

Submission Steps:

    Add one of the properly-sized logo images (in .png or .svg format) to the top (left, center, or right) of your business website’s index page. Note: you can add the logo to other, and/or all other, pages as well.

  1. Remember to update all of your affected web pages.
  2. Submit a link to your Business Website through Blackboard.

Project #2 :: Business card for your Business

First, look through these articles about great business cards:

Create a Business Card for your new business, include a design for the front and the back.

Project Requirements:

  1. Logo
  2. Company Name
  3. Your Name
  4. Your Position
  5. Email Address
  6. Phone Number
  7. Website Address

Submission Steps:

  1. Link the business card images (in .jpg format) to your Assignments page. 
  2. Remember to update your Assignments page.
  3. Submit a link to your Business Website through Blackboard.

Project #3 :: Design your Business Website’s index page using Illustrator, use good UI & UX in your design

Submission Steps:

  1. Link an image of your Illustrator-built index page (in .pdf format) to your Assignments page.
  2. Remember to update your Assignments page.
  3. Submit a link to your Business Website through Blackboard.

Adobe ACA Certification:

Pinellas Technical College provides you the opportunity to get the Adobe Illustrator ACA Industry certification at no cost to you.  Most of the Windows PCs has practice test software already installed.  Ask one of the instructors for directions on how to use this Certiport software.  After you have scored 900 on the practice test you can take the Adobe Illustrator ACA exam.  This exam is provided for you by Pinellas Technical College.  The college is a Certiport testing center.  After you pass this certification tell one of the instructors so that they can print out your certificate.
